Mexico City

Scouting notes from the studio — where we'd photograph a wedding here, and how we'd plan the light. We're currently booking Mexico City dates.

Mexico City might be the most underrated wedding city in the Americas — a capital of muralists and modernists where the light is high-altitude sharp and the color arrives pre-composed. If Tuscany matches our Renaissance instincts, CDMX matches our editorial ones.

Where we'd shoot

Condesa & Roma
Art-deco facades, deep tree canopy, sidewalk cafés — the neighborhoods where a couple in wedding clothes looks like a film being shot. Early Sunday morning, the streets are empty and gold.
Barragán color
The city's modernist houses and gardens — saturated pink, ochre, and blue walls built from light itself. Where photography is arranged, ten frames here define an entire gallery. Editorial portraiture heaven.
Hacienda courtyards
Historic haciendas inside the city host full weddings under ash trees and stone arcades — candlelit dinners, mariachi at midnight, and courtyards that hold golden hour like a bowl.
Coyoacán
Cobblestones, bougainvillea, painted walls in Frida's neighborhood — made for a day-after session with coffee in hand and zero schedule.

The light, honestly

At 2,200 metres the light is thinner and crisper than sea-level light — shadows cut harder, colors ring clearer, and film grain loves it. Dry season (November through April) is prime; March and April add jacaranda season, when whole avenues go violet and the city art-directs your wedding for free. Afternoon showers in summer are brief and leave the streets mirrored — not a problem, a gift.

Planning notes

CDMX weddings run late — dinner at ten, dancing at midnight — so we'd plan coverage in two arcs: golden-hour portraits early, then a second wind for the candlelit, confetti-blurred hours where the intentional-motion film work comes alive. Travel quoted flat; we'd arrive early enough to scout your venue at your exact ceremony hour.
